Context: Things you must know before reading:
- Most of the employees at RMI have been remote since COVID in mid 2020
- Every year, there is a Christmas bingo game before the big company meeting.
- The president is constantly getting work done on his cabin in the Berkshires.
- With everyone being out of the office for so long, a lot of things needed to be fixed and it took 4 different scheduling attempts to finally get the new dishwasher delivered and installed.
RMI Christmas 2021 ‘Twas the night before Christmas. Or like two weeks before When the RMI workers came back through the door With the cars all parked in the front lot with care Because all of us were… required to be there. The consultants are nestled all snug in their cubes Answering phones in the most merry of moods Because how else would you answer, when a call that is lame Is all standing between you and a Bingo game? When at the front door, there arose such a clatter Jill sprang from her desk to see what was the matter She paused her reggae and was there in a flash To see a man with the word “repair” on his sash “Are you here for the ceiling or heat? I must know” But his look had the innocence of new-fallen snow. “Then are you a solicitor?” Her voice soft but tough When Haley walked up and asked “got a box to drop off?” As more employees gathered, what should become clear, But that no one knew why the repairman was here. “So how can we help you?” A voice somewhere says We knew in a moment, it must be the pres. Dave then turned as the group stood transfixin’ And said “back to your desks Haley, Colin, Matt, Justin.” Jill, Molly, and Stephanie, he shooed down the hall To the rest he said “Dash away, dash away all!” Finally, it was quiet, as most Christmas Eve’s are And Dave faced the man, door still ajar. “Tell me why you’re here, now you’ve caused quite a stir” With a fidget, he said “to install your dishwasher, sir” With a chuckle and twinkle, Dave sent him away. The confused repairman sprang into his sleigh. But I heard Dave proclaim ere the man was out of sight. “Merry Christmas and to get to the Berkshires, it’s a right!”
